The 123rd Annual National Congress The 110th President General Lifelong interest in history, genealogy leads Joe Dooley to post J oseph W. Dooley was sworn in as the 110th President General of the National Society Sons of the American Revolution on July 10, 2013 at the 123rd NSSAR Congress in Kansas City. He is descended from at least three patriot ancestors: Morris Earle (1757-1833), Guilliaem Bertholf (1730-ca. 1785) and Johannes Carson (1752-aft. 1820). Earle served as a private, and later a corporal, in the New Jersey Continental Line. Guilliaem Bertholf, also from New Jersey, was a supporter of the patriot cause, and was arrested and held by the British. Joe plans to publish updated editions of both works in the next several years. He also is working on a compilation of Dooley family records from the Irish Midlands from the late 18th through the early 20th centuries. Joe served as president of the Virginia Society in 2007-08, and hosted the 117th NSSAR Congress in Williamsburg. While president of the Virginia Society, he spearheaded the installation of a monument to black patriots of the American Revolution.
