WINTER 2013-14 33 Gettysburg" during the Constitution Day Luncheon. McRoberts, Ph.D., is a past presi- dent of the MNSSAR and is cur- rently the Vice President General of the North Central District. McRoberts included a detailed slide presentation with photos of the principal players, maps and statistics of the history of the First Minnesota Volunteer Infantry and the Battle of Gettysburg in July 1863. MISSOURI SOCIETY Secondary to its mission, the MOSSAR was thrilled in October 2013, when the local ABC-TV sta- tion sent two reporters along with its sponsored Honor Flight. The color guard was on TV many times that night and four or five times the next day, and made appearances on three other sta- tions. It was, by far, the best event in terms of public rela- tions, as more than 500 people attended the send-off. Alexander Majors Chapter Alex Bryant of the Alexander Majors Chapter of MOSSAR presented an SAR Flag Certificate to the general manager of The Red Inn in Provincetown, Mass. In 1915, owner Mary Wilkinson opened her home as The Red Inn "as the roses began to bloom" and the inn immediately became a welcome destination for travelers from all corners of the world. The Red Inn proudly displays a U.S. flag, as it has for years. Compatriot Bryant spends his summers in Provincetown with many friends from Kansas City. The first visitors to the site where The Red Inn later would be built were the Pilgrims aboard the Mayflower, on Nov. 11, 1620. Capt. William Bradford set foot in the new free world on the beach directly in front of that location. Capt. Freeman Atkins built the original house for his wife, Emily Gross, in 1805. President Theodore and Mrs. Roosevelt stayed in the inn when they traveled to Provincetown to lay the cornerstone for the Provincetown Monument. From left, Maj. Gen. Robert L.
