IDAHO SOCIETY Museum Comes to Life For a second year, Ft. Boise Chapter Patriots James Stone and James Wellman participated in the Idaho State Historical Society's "Museum Comes to Life" in Boise, Idaho, on Sept. 29. This event featured re-enactors representing various periods in history, showing how things were made and done in those times. During the event, which was attended by hundreds, Stone and Wellman talked with people about the SAR and demonstrated Colonialera lighting devices and period items for carrying gear and merchandise. The third-grader donated $1,000 in prize money he won in a bank scavenger contest to Cara Kielty, a 2-yearold neighbor, for her long-term treatment for lymphocyte cancer. Wyatt's generosity attracted national attention. "She was sick and I felt that was the right thing to do," Wyatt said. The Citizenship Certificate was presented Sept. 24 at a meeting of the Edwardsville Board of Education by officers of the Gen. George Rogers Clark Chapter; above, from left, Treasurer James C. The Gen. Joseph Bartholomew Chapter was honored to provide the color guard for this event, led by our veteran's chair. Bill White read President General Stephen Leishman's Proclamation for this event. The flags were at half-staff as a result of the Newtown, Conn., school shooting the day before. As we remembered those who defended our freedoms, we also remembered those who lost their lives due to this act of violence. It was a most meaningful ceremony as we thought again about all of those who have fought and died so that we might enjoy the fruits of their efforts in our lives today. The chapter was represented by Dave Ashbrook, chapter vice president and ILSSAR chaplain; Don Hyland, chapter newsletter editor; Bill White, veteran's chair; Don Lush, chapter sergeant-at-arms; and Great Lakes District Vice President General J. Gordon Bidner, who is also chapter president. Springfield Chapter Chapter Color Guard Compatriots Dan Hrenko and Stephen Bradley, and Cora and Sadie Brillhart took part in Veterans Day Ceremonies at Camp Butler National Cemetery. The Camp Butler Veterans Day Presentation of the colors is an annual event for the Springfield Chapter. SAR MAGAZINE
