Tennessee Valley Chapter President George Royer and Joseph Greer Chapter President Mark Russell both delivered remarks dedicating the grave marker. CALIFORNIA SOCIETY San Diego Chapter "It's a Wonderful World" was the theme of the Chula Vista High School Cultural Geography Day, Nov. 1, 2012. According to the sponsoring teacher, Diana Rude-Kulhanek, the event was planned "to promote goodwill, education, cultural awareness and understanding" for the 550 students and guests. Casa de España (House of Spain) and other members of the House of Pacific Relations located in San Diego's Balboa Park were invited to participate in Cultural Geography Day. Casa de España invited the San Diego SAR Chapter to join in the event to help explain Spain's involvement in the American Revolution. Our joint presentation fully captured the spirit of the day. Numerous students visited our displays, curious to learn about WINTER 2012-13 SAR and our country's early history from the six compatriots who attended. Compatriot Richard Barck, the chapter photographer, was camera ready for those many students interested in having their photos taken with our members in Continental Line and Soldado uniforms. Compatriot Robert Smith told his family history through memorabilia, weaponry and ancestral heritage. Smith is a descendent of Lt. José Francisco Ortega, commandant of the San Diego Presidio during the American Revolution, which made a financial contribution to support Spain's war against Great Britain that aided the cause of the American Revolution. 27
