General. The Nominating Committee made its report, and Compatriot Lanny Patton reviewed a recent SAR trip to France. Kentucky State President Doug Collins talked about the anniversary of KYSSAR. After some discussion during Friday's committee meeting, the Trustees approved a proposal by the California Society to host the 2019 Congress. The motion passed unanimously. Upcoming Congress locations include: Louisville (2015), Boston (2016), Knoxville, Tenn. (2017) and Houston (2018). The Trustees approved work to begin on the completion of the second-floor restrooms in the new headquarters building, and for Solid Light to begin the planning process for the museum/exhibit space to be housed on the main floor. A study continues on what, if anything, to do with the library's collection of more than 12,000 rolls of microfilm and will be discussed again at the Spring Leadership Meeting, scheduled for March 6-7 in Louisville. The Trustees approved the 2015 budget and recommen- dations made by the Investments Committee and the George Washington Fund. Saturday evening's speaker was retired U.S. Army Maj. Gen. Robert S. Silverthorn Jr., who is with the Kentucky Commission on Military Affairs. A Vietnam veteran, having served with the 11th Armored Cavalry Regiment, Silverthorn spent more than 35 years in the U.S. Army (both active duty and reserve), retiring in 2005 after having commanded two Army Reserve Divisions. His military decorations include the Distinguished Service Medal, two Bronze Stars, Air Medal and seven Meritorious Service Medals. At the end of his talk, he was inducted into the SAR by PG Brock. 6 SAR MAGAZINE The ribbon-cutting ceremony, hosted by President General Lindsey C. Brock, above, drew the attention of the local media and the greater Louisville community. California Compatriot Jim Blauer, center, has created a day-by-day calendar of the American Revolution as a fundraiser for the SAR CAAH. More about the calendar appears on page 39.
