36 SAR MAGAZINE Molley with an SAR Good Citizenship pin, certificate and stipend for her essay, "Why My Independence is Important to Me." Eryn led everyone in the Pledge of Allegiance, which was followed by the national anthem. Color guard members attending were Commander John Franklin, Hugh Harris, Lee Mac Bride, Stan Thomas, Fred Watkins and Claude Custer. This may have been the largest attendance in the village because of the great weather, and candy, games and prizes for the children. Franklin provided plenty of water and a delicious picnic after the program. Even Slider, the warm and fuzzy Cleveland Indians mascot, above, was there to give everyone a hug, including Franklin. OKLAHOMA SOCIETY Oklahoma City Chapter The Oklahoma City Chapter inducted three new members during its September meeting at the Rococo Restaurant in the North Park Mall. Inducted were Steven Ray Hollis, William Keith Guilliams and Ron Robert Meek. PPP Mason Cole of the Chickasaw Nation was the guest speaker at the Oklahoma City Chapter monthly meeting on Oct. 13 at the Rococo Restaurant in the Northpark Mall. His talk was "We Will Meet You Halfway: The Chickasaw Nation, the American Revolution and the Tides of History." A relative of Chickasaw storyteller Te Ata, Cole earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Boston College and a Master of Arts from the University of Mississippi. He is a native of Moore, Okla. Tulsa Chapter The Tulsa Chapter and members of the Tulsa area chapters of the Daughters of the American Revolution celebrated the national Let Freedom Ring ceremony on the University of Tulsa campus. Maj. William Tetrick of the City of Tulsa Pipes and Drums Corps opened the ceremony with patriotic pipe music. SAR Tulsa Chapter President Bill Martinson and Secretary Ron Painter led the program.
