Color Guard around 12:30. Once the review is concluded, the members of the color guard and those in Colonial attire will process to the Cathedral of the Assumption for the Memorial Service. Wives are invited to dress in Colonial attire and participate in the procession from the Galt House Hotel to the Cathedral. Following the Memorial Service, the women will stay at the church for the First Lady's Tea. The evening will culminate with the finals for the Rumbaugh Orations. Monday, June 29, begins with several breakfasts followed by the Opening Ceremony. The Youth Awards Luncheon will be at noon, and the business session continues in the afternoon. The Awards presentations and the induction of this year's class of Minutemen will be on the evening's agenda. Tuesday dawns with many of us in district breakfasts before moving back into session to continue with our business and elections. The annual George Washington Fellows Luncheon takes place on this day, while the ladies are off to the Audubon Country Club for their luncheon with First Lady Billie Brock. Late afternoon finds the delegates lining up to cast their ballots in the elections that have multiple candidates. The night ends with the President General's Banquet. Wednesday opens with the final session of Congress and the swearing in of Trustees and VPGs. Then it is off to the Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington for an afternoon of enjoying the Kentucky countryside and learning more about the fascinating history of horse racing. We may even see some of the past Kentucky Derby champions while at the farm-like park. After the tour comes the final event of Congress, the Installation Banquet and George Washington Signet Ring Ceremony. This is one impressive moment, when the new PG begins his tenure by wearing the ring. There does not seem to be free time in the schedule, yet, at every Congress, people find time to renew acquaintances, form new friendships and solidify the ties that bind all of us within this organization. I believe that when all is said and done, this is the real reason so many of us come to the Congress—because of the personal relationships with the members that we develop over the years. So get ready to visit our National Headquarters and enjoy the city and state that plays host to our society's 125th Congress. Hope to see you there.
