OHIO SOCIETY Lafayette Chapter Twenty-six SAR members, wives and guests braved the cold and snow to attend the Lafayette Chapter Presidents Day luncheon meeting at the Fairlawn Country Club, Feb. 14. The combined Lafayette Chapter and Western Reserve Society color guard—made up of Commander John Franklin, Lee MacBride, James Glasgow, Scott Glasgow and Claude Custer—posted and retired the colors. Lafayette member James F. Glasgow, Scott and James' dad, gave the presentation on "Words of Support Printed on Continental and Colonial Currency 1775-1780." OKLAHOMA SOCIETY The Tulsa and Bartlesville chapters' color guard presented colors at the opening ceremony of Revolutionary Day on the Hill, Jan. 29. On behalf of the Tulsa Chapter, Chapter President Bill Martinson distributed 500 SAR U.S. Constitution booklets to the students who attended. Revolutionary Day on the Hill is presented by two Tulsa Public Schools teachers: Dessa Weber of Kendall-Whittier and Beth Howard of Mark Twain Elementary. It is a stimulating day of educational activities celebrating a pivotal time in our nation's history. The events of the day brought to life the American Revolution to fifth-grade students of northeast Oklahoma. Participants dressed in Colonial-period clothing, met historical character interpreters, drilled with Revolutionary War soldiers, participated in "African Rhythms" and played Colonial-era games. The learning experience was enriched by bringing together these educational elements in a beautiful Colonial-style venue, Kirk of the Hills Presbyterian Church. Above, new Lafayette Chapter members are inducted.
